The Recruiter’s Role in Mergers & Acquisitions

Just recently I was called upon to address an exclusive group of real estate industry CEOs, Management and Recruiters.  This gathering collectively represented top North American companies and over 230,000 sales associates.
I’m not trying to be secretive about whom this group was.  The impact of the numbers deserve to be considered up front and by themselves.  [...]

Post Closing Confessions from an Orphaned Home-seller

Over the years I’ve read countless articles from a real estate agent’s perspective on how to treat clients, fiduciary responsibilities and the do’s and don’ts of good customer service.  I’ve sat through courses, lectures, break-out sessions, keynotes and thumbed my way through more than one industry periodical — researching the the ins and outs of how clients [...]

Encore Performance: Lead Generation is Dead!

Every once in a while I’ll run across an opinion, statement or in this case a blog post that deserves and bears another 15 minutes in the spotlight.  I’ll call it an encore performance.  Especially if at the time of its original delivery, the mindset of the targeted audience was not prepared for the paradigm shifting thought or idea.   I submit to [...]

Construction Spending Lowest Since 2001

According to the latest report released Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Commerce, it would appear that construction spending declined by 0.6 percent in July, which is double the 0.3 percent decrease analysts had been expecting, and the largest drop since February of this year when the findings revealed a 0.9 percent decline.
If you were wondering how the overall [...]

The Break Up: Newspapers & Real Estate

This last weekend a major event occured within the newspaper publishing world.  Just in case you missed it, the LA Times announced that they would no longer publish a dedicated real estate section.  The announcement comes as no surprise as competition from online real estate advertising sites has been gaining over the last few quarters.
Lauren [...]

Caution: Merger Ahead!

The other day I was surfing the net (that is code for avoiding the things that really need to get done) and ran across the new Honda Coupe website www.why-merge.com. I have to admit that I was a little curious due to the title alone. Of course the website is a great Gen Y marketing [...]

Do You Have Shrinking Square Feet?

It is interesting to note the information gleaned from this graphic provided by the National Association of Home Builders. It highlights the increase in the average square footage of a single family home from 1950 to 2000. Yet the average number of people per household has decreased during the same time period.
Contrast this trend with [...]

Syndication isn’t a Four Letter Word!

Well right away I’m sure I grabbed your attention or at least peaked the interest of those who remember what a bad word this was back in the 80’s and 90’s. I’m referring of course to our “old mindset” that defined syndicator as a some type of “carpet-bagger” that rolled into town and swindled investors [...]
